Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jon Cormier (ranked 6744 p4p, 234 weight class) and Seeday Jones (ranked 7380 p4p, 242 weight class). Jon Cormier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Cormier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Seeday Jones!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormier tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Jones counters with a body kick that stops Cormier in his tracks momentarily.

and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Cormier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones prevents Cormier from getting back to his feet.
Cormier can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cormier wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cormier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.

Jones stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Cormier tries to clinch up
and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Cormier backing up. Cormier nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.

Jones closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cormier's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones pushing down on Cormier's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Cormier pushes Jones off but Jones dives into side control.
Jones in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Cormier looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Cormier tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.

Cormier escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jones tries for a takedown but Cormier manages to get underhooks.
Cormier misses with a knee strike.

Cormier's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cormier leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Cormier moves into the clinch.
Jones is working for takedown but Cormier is calmly controlling the position for now.

Jones is trying to drag Cormier to the mat but Cormier just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jones is pushing down on Cormier's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cormier is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Cormier sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cormier sprawls well. Cormier wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Cormier's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cormier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Cormier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones blocks a head kick by Cormier.
Cormier shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seeday Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Seeday Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
