Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James May (ranked 4437 p4p, 464 weight class) and Jet Chan (ranked 24860 p4p, 589 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James May!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jet Chan!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Damien Edna and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but May paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Chan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with May, pushing him back against the cage.
Chan trying to land knees to the body.
May is trying to pull guard but Chan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

May escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chan tries to close the distance and clinch up but May swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chan swings for the body but May moves out of range.
May is looking to counter the offense by Chan and move into the clinch.
Jet Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chan wants it to stay on the feet.

May has managed to clinch.
May tries to pull guard but Chan holds him up against the cage and eventually May drops back down to his feet.

May goes for a takedown in the clinch but Chan prevents it.

May tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Chan has May pressed against the cage, preventing May from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

May escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
May looking to control.

May is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

May working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

May looking for a guillotine here but Chan defends easily.

Chan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
May throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

May is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Chan trying to control but May is working from the bottom.

May has his foot on Chan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chan works his way back into a safe position though.

May throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Chan escapes and throws May's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Chan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with May. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Who's going to make the next move?
May can't do much from the bottom here.
May manages to work his way to half guard, despite Chan's best efforts.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
May works his way to full guard. Good work.
May is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

May is looking for a triangle but Chan pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James May will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Chan moves to clinch but May breaks away
and May counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

May shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Chan wants to improve his position but May is controlling well.
Chan is still trying to improve position.
May has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

May stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
May is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chan can do to turn this around?
May tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chan defends well and May ends up having to push Chan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

May has Chan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Chan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

May tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Chan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Chan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
May looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

It looks like James May has been cut.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Chan.

Chan receives a warning from the referee for stalling.

Chan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. May is defending well for now.

May manages to break the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chan tries to clinch up but May circles away and keeps his distance.

May shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chan sprawls well. Chan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. May gets slowly back to his feet.
Chan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chan closes the distance but May moves to the side
and May counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Chan stuffs the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chan throws a head kick but May moves out of range.
May shoots in but no luck this time.

and May counters with a single leg into guard. Chan didn't expect that.
May looking to sit in guard and control but Chan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Chan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Chan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

May looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

May looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Chan has picked May up and slammed him! May can't keep hold of the triangle and Chan manages to pass to side control!
May wants to get back to his feet but Chan is dominant here and he's now got May's back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
May can't escape the position.
May is working hard here to advance position.
Chan really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for May.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that James May will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on James May's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Chan takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Chan closes the distance and pushes May back into the cage.
Chan tries a body shot but May blocks it.
Chan misses with some punches.
Chan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and May avoids it.
May has Chan pressed against the cage, preventing Chan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Chan breaks from the clinch.
Chan fails in his attempt to clinch.
May is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Chan.
Chan tries to close the distance and clinch up but May swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Chan lands a big head kick that sends May tumbling to the mat! Chan takes a step backwards and waves May back to his feet - he wants the finish!

and May counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Chan!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

James May overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
May trying to control the action but Chan is working from the bottom.

May postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
May tries to move into full mount but can't pass Chan's legs.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

May tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no May has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jet Chan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think May has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
