PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Garnier (ranked 5436 p4p, 459 weight class) and Billy Gravano (ranked 7682 p4p, 524 weight class). Gravano is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by long way to the top. Billy Gravano is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Billy Gravano!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gravano slips a jab from Garnier.
Garnier tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gravano was well out of range. Poor timing from Garnier.
Gravano has a takedown stuffed.
Garnier connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gravano's hands.


It looks like Billy Gravano has been cut.
Gravano shoots in but no luck this time.

Garnier has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gravano tries to score a body lock takedown but Garnier shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Ronald Garnier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Gravano.

Gravano seems to be working for a kimura but Garnier defends the submission attempt.
Gravano is pressing down on Garnier's thigh, looking to free his foot. Garnier is holding on for now.

Garnier is looking for a sweep. Gravano is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gravano connects with a nice short shot to Garnier's temple.

Garnier is concentrating on defense, preventing Gravano from advancing position.
Garnier's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gravano is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Garnier sees it coming and defends easily.

Gravano looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gravano tries to pass the half guard into mount. Garnier knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Garnier is staying active underneath Gravano, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Gravano dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Garnier misses with a wild body shot.
Garnier throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Garnier, as that shot connected.
Garnier throws a hook to the side of Gravano's head but Gravano sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nice sprawl there from Garnier as Gravano shoots in.
Garnier swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Garnier throws a body punch but Gravano moves out of range.
Gravano misses with a takedown attempt - Garnier sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sloppy strikes from Garnier. Those never looked like landing.
Gravano is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gravano walks into a left hand.
Gravano is still on wobbly legs! Can Garnier finish him?
Gravano walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Garnier swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ronald Garnier!
After winning the bout, Ronald Garnier thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Billy Gravano was interviewed post fight and said 'sorry to my fans i'll train my ass off for the next one.'.
