PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sloth Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spanky McFaddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sloth Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spanky McFaddy!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson keeps the fight on the outside.

Peterson gets the takedown into side control.
McFaddy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Peterson prevents McFaddy from improving his position.
McFaddy is refusing to be controlled, as Peterson sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McFaddy kicks off Peterson and gets to his feet.

Peterson gets caught flat footed, as McFaddy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Peterson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McFaddy lands a couple of digs.

McFaddy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Peterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McFaddy is squirming around, avoiding Peterson's attempts to control the action.
Peterson is really struggling to control McFaddy but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McFaddy keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
McFaddy is squirming around, avoiding Peterson's attempts to control the action.
McFaddy tries to hold on but Peterson pushes him away.
McFaddy is desperately trying to improve his position but Peterson has a good base and remains in mount.
Peterson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McFaddy is looking to escape.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Sloth Peterson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

so McFaddy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Peterson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McFaddy stacks Peterson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McFaddy!

McFaddy takes a little break here. Peterson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
You can see the frustration on Peterson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
McFaddy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Peterson wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Peterson is trying to control McFaddy's posture but McFaddy avoids it.
Peterson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McFaddy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peterson's waist but Peterson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McFaddy off to one side.
McFaddy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Peterson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

McFaddy is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Peterson pulls his head out easily.

A close round but Spanky McFaddy will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Peterson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
McFaddy is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sloth Peterson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Peterson wants to control but McFaddy has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
McFaddy manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McFaddy wants to stand but Peterson is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Peterson doesn't manage to clinch there - McFaddy circles away.
McFaddy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

McFaddy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Peterson trying to control but McFaddy is working from the bottom.
Peterson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McFaddy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peterson is one step ahead there.
McFaddy trying to keep a closed guard but Peterson is proving a slippery customer.

Peterson wants to get up but he can't break McFaddy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

McFaddy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Peterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Peterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Peterson gets to his feet. McFaddy looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Sloth Peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

McFaddy scores with a takedown into Peterson's guard.
Peterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McFaddy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

McFaddy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McFaddy.
McFaddy is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Peterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Peterson wants to control from the top but McFaddy keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

I would just about give that final round to Spanky McFaddy.
