PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Leben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chris Leben was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A slapping body kick lands there for Leben.
Leben slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Johnson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Johnson duly obliges.
Leben looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Leben moves into the clinch successfully.
Leben lands an elbow inside.
Leben with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Leben creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Johnson's defenses.
Leben connects with a nasty looking knee right to Johnson's face.

It looks like Quinton Johnson has been cut.

Johnson is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Leben breaks the clinch.
Johnson connects with a looping right hand.
Leben avoids the head kick by Johnson.
Johnson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Leben doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Leben throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Leben off to one side.
Johnson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Quinton Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Leben.
Leben looks gassed!
Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Leben drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Johnson looks for a takedown but Leben sprawls well.

Leben misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Johnson.
Johnson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Leben but Leben pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Johnson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Leben shows good takedown defense.
Johnson throws a lazy head kick

and Leben counters by moving into the clinch.

Leben drags the fight down to the ground.

Leben looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Leben won't let him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson being controlled here momentarily.
Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Leben is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Johnson frees his head nicely. Oh but Leben has switched to an armbar! Johnson is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
