The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Williams throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Williams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gaines's guard.

Gaines is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gaines is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Williams is aware though and is defending well.

Williams postures up in Gaines's guard and throws a big left but Gaines blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Williams is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaines manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Williams manages to get himself to full guard.

Williams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gaines gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gaines knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground.
Williams is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Williams looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Gaines is defending well. Williams quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Gaines has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Williams celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
