Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kalem Batten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Coll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batten's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Collie Buddz - Defend Your Own. The key to victory for Kalem Batten has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalem Batten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xander Coll!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coll takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Batten misses with a jab, cross combination.

Batten moves into the clinch.
Coll tries for a takedown but Batten manages to get underhooks.
Batten tries to break the clinch but Coll is controlling the position.
Coll drops down looking for an ankle pick but Batten pulls his leg out and moves away.
Batten lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Xander Coll has been cut.
No joy there for Batten, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Batten shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Coll misses with the combination.

Coll moves into the clinch.
Batten is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Batten gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Coll.
Kalem Batten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xander Coll.

Batten breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Batten wants to get back to striking at distance but Coll won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Coll throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Battens head.
Batten wants to break free but Coll has control.
Coll lands a hook to the side of the head.

Batten's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Coll forces Batten back against the cage and clinches.
Coll is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Batten gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Batten fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Batten jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Coll walks away with a smile on his face. Batten gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Coll fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Coll gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Batten swings wildly with an uppercut but Coll uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Coll gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coll works his way into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Xander Coll will probably get the nod.

That's time! Batten's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Coll lands with a nice combination. Batten backs away looking to recover.

Coll has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Batten is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Batten is trying to trip Coll. He has hold of a leg but Coll is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Batten persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Batten wants to control from the top but Coll keeps moving.

Batten has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Coll is proving hard to escape from.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Coll stuffs the takedown attempt from Batten. Batten gets slowly back to his feet.

Batten is trying to stall.

Coll has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Batten is trying to keep an underhook but Coll manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Batten throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Coll's waist but Coll gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Batten off to one side.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Coll in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

I've got Coll winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
