PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Lane (ranked 5339 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Slice (ranked 5553 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Isaac Lane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimbo Slice!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane throws a sloppy head kick and Slice moves out of range easily.

Lane gets a double leg takedown into Slice's guard.
Lane is fighting to break Slice's control of his arms but Slice is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Lane would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lane with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lane seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lane being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lane wants to control from the top but Slice keeps moving.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Slice holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Lane would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Slice has Lane up against the cage in a clinch.
Lane tries to pull guard but Slice holds him up against the cage and eventually Lane drops back down to his feet.

Slice has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lane uses from the top position.
Lane trying to control the position from guard on top but Slice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Slice is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lane is controlling him.
Slice controls Lane momentarily but Lane frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lane makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Slice has his foot on Lane's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lane works his way back into a safe position though.

Lane drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Slice dives on top into guard.

Slice is fighting to break Lane's control of his arms but Lane is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Lane on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lane tries to get out of the position.
Lane tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Slice trying to control the position from guard on top but Lane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lane wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lane utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Slice stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lane swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Slice prevents Lane from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lane goes for a double leg but Slice avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Slice continues to drive forward.
Slice is looking to clinch but Lane is avoiding it.
Slice will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lane scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Lane swings around for an armbar but Slice sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lane's guard.
Slice wants to stand but Lane has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Slice passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lane is trying to escape the position but Slice is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimbo Slice dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lane misses with a jab, cross combination.
Slice is looking for the big counter here.
Slice throws a push kick but Lane slaps the foot to one side.
Slice has a takedown stuffed.

Lane has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lane has Slice pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lane pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Slice tumbling to the mat - Lane dives into Slice's guard.
Lane is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Isaac Lane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lane wants to stand up but Slice is controlling the position.

Isaac Lane is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Isaac Lane dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lane looks for a takedown but Slice sprawls well.
Slice shoots in but no luck this time.
Slice dives in for a single leg takedown but Lane sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lane tries to close the distance and clinch but Slice swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lane waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Slice.
Slice tries to counter with a clinch but Lane shakes him off and moves away.

Lane closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Slice did well to prevent Lane getting side control.
Slice is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slice manages to get to full guard.
Lane engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Lane wanted to stand there but Slice had control of the position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Slice darts in looking for a takedown but Lane gets double underhooks and turns Slice into the cage.
Isaac Lane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo Slice.
Slice takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Slice fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lane lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Slice has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Slice and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lane lands a nice short elbow.

Slice is looking for a sweep. Lane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lane scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Lane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Slice taking some punishment here, with Lane in his half guard.
Lane is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Slice is trying to control but can't.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Slice throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lane's waist but Lane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slice off to one side.
Slice moves into range and connects with a jab.
Lane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Slice can do to turn this around?

Slice gets caught flat footed, as Lane shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Slice has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lane off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Slice gets caught napping as Lane dives in and scores a takedown. Slice manages to retain guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Isaac Lane showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Lane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
