Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick Dick (ranked 908 p4p, 121 weight class) and Peter Zonta (ranked 1812 p4p, 231 weight class). Rick Dick has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dick shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zonta defends it nicely.
Dick looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Dick bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dick lands a decent elbow from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zonta can do anything to dispel that myth.
Dick slows the pace down.
Zonta wants to get back to his feet but Dick drags him back down.
Zonta tries to improve position but can't.
Dick scores with punches from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dick working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Dick looks up at the clock and then as Zonta takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Dick smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Dick fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Zonta dodges the ground and pound from Dick.
Zonta is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dick is controlling him well.
Dick wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zonta keeps working.

Zonta wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Dick misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Zonta throws Dick to one side and escapes!

Dick feints and as Zonta raises his hands in defense, Dick changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Zonta kicks Dick off and gets to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Zonta as Dick shoots in.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dick.

Dick shoots in and gets a takedown into Zonta's guard.

Zonta pushes Dick off and gets back to his feet.

and Zonta counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Zonta tries to clinch but Dick is having none of it.
Dick closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Dick moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Zonta tries to clinch there but Dick circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Zonta looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Zonta connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dick momentarily.
Dick fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zonta avoids it really well and circles away.
Zonta swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dick drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Zonta has control of Dick's left arm, preventing Dick from doing any damage.
Dick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zonta works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zonta swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dick postures up in Zonta's guard and throws a big left but Zonta blocks it.

Dick loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Dick won't allow Zonta to get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Dick prevents Zonta from getting back to his feet.
Dick postures up and lands a big shot to Zonta's brow.
Zonta looking to control but Dick passes into half guard.
Dick seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Zonta makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Zonta moves into range and clinches up with Dick.

Dick turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Zonta wants to get back to his feet but Dick drags him back down.
Zonta told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Dick misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zonta is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Dick advances to full mount.
Zonta squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Dick looking to control but Zonta is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Zonta is bucking up trying to escape but Dick cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

The referee warns Zonta that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Dick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dick postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Zonta in real trouble here! The ref calls for Zonta to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
