PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Morozov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morozov comes into the arena with Bassie en Adriaan blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrei Morozov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Williams!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams darts in and clinches Morozov up against the cage.
Williams trying to land knees to the body.
Morozov misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Williams.
Williams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Morozov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morozov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Williams closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Williams lands in his opponent's guard.

Morozov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Morozov controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.

Morozov is looking for a triangle but Williams pushes his legs off easily.

Morozov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Williams wants to pass the guard but Morozov is keeping the position.
Williams postures up and lands a big shot to Morozov's brow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Williams is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Morozov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Morozov wants to sweep here but Williams controlling him for the moment.
Morozov is controlling Williams's posture.

Morozov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Williams stacks Morozov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Williams!
Morozov sneaks back into half guard.

Morozov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Williams trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Morozov has momentary wrist control but Williams slips an elbow through the middle.
Williams wants to control from the top but Morozov keeps moving.
Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Morozov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Morozov had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Williams is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Morozov Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Williams's back instead.
Morozov is not going to allow Williams to sit and survive in this position.
Williams is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams wants to control his opponent's hands but Morozov gets his hands free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Williams holding both Morozov 's hands and preventing any damage.
Morozov is not going to allow Williams to sit and survive in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andrei Morozov will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Williams throws a head kick but Morozov moves out of range.
Morozov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt.
Morozov connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Williams momentarily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Morozov.
Morozov misses with a wild combination.
Morozov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Williams throws a push kick but Morozov slaps the foot to one side.
Williams is breathing heavily.
Morozov connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Williams momentarily.
Morozov lands a jab to Williams's midsection.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morozov throws a nice inside leg kick.
Morozov cracks Williams on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Williams falls backwards against the cage. Morozov follows up with more strikes that drop Williams to his knees. Morozov keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Williams! This one is all over!
