Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Luna (ranked 279 p4p, 37 weight class) and Samson Wills (ranked 479 p4p, 55 weight class). Luna comes to the cage accompanied by Noypi by Bamboo. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Luna!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Samson Wills!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luna throws a big shot that misses.
Wills swats away the attempt to clinch by Luna.
The fight stays on the outside here - Luna looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wills avoids the body shot from Luna.
Wills throws out a loose jab but Luna uses good head movement to avoid it.
A quick step to the side and Luna tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wills looks to land a left hand but Luna moved out of range nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Luna looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Luna clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luna scores with a shoulder strike.
Luna lands a body punch.
Luna lands a hook to the side of the head.
Luna throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Willss head.

Wills gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Wills throwing strikes from guard but Luna blocks nicely.
Luna preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wills makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wills loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wills has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Luna is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Wills in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Luna has Wills pulled in close to control his posture.

Luna has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Luna has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Luna sizes up Wills with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Wills throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Wills gets tackled into the cage by Luna. Luna maintains the clinch.
Wills wants to break the clinch but can't.
Luna lands a body punch.
Wills looking to slow down the pace here.
Wills manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Luna misses with a hook to the ribs.
Wills is looking to break free of the clinch but Luna has double underhooks.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Luna lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Wills can't break the clinch.
Luna lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Luna lands a hook that snaps the head of Wills backwards.

Luna has Wills pressed against the cage, preventing Wills from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Wills is looking to take this one to the mat.
Wills prevents a body shot from Luna.
Nice body punch from Luna.
Wills goes for a takedown attempt but Luna pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A left lands for Luna.

Luna moves into range and clinches up with Wills.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wills is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Luna is defending well.
Juan Luna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samson Wills.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Luna.
Luna scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Wills wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Luna has him pressed against the cage.
Wills takes a shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Luna's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Luna clinches up with Wills and pushes him back against the cage.
Luna misses with the head strike.
Wills is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Luna is defending well.
Wills drops down looking for an ankle pick but Luna pulls his leg out and moves away.
A jab from Luna does it's job there.
A jab from Wills misses.
Luna looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Wills ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luna connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wills. Wills circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Wills closes the distance and clinches up with Luna, looking for a takedown. Wills pushes Luna against the cage but Luna circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Juan Luna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samson Wills.

Wills bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Luna on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Luna tries to get out of the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wills working away.
Luna knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wills on the ground.

Wills working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Wills looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Luna is avoiding damage well.
You can see the frustration on Luna's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Luna tries to bench press Wills off him but Wills keeps the position.
Wills lands a decent elbow from side control.
Wills throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Luna can't do much from the bottom here.
Sloppy strikes there by Wills.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luna is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wills in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Wills misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Luna is looking to regain half guard here but Wills keeps moving and retains side control.

Wills has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Yaw-Yan Ardigma. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Luna tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Luna struggling a bit here.
Luna is not content to let Wills control the position.
Samson Wills has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wills cracks Luna with a big right hand but Luna just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.


Luna is rocked!
Wills scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Luna is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Wills can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Samson Wills!

Samson Wills spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
In defeat, Juan Luna stepped up to the mic, saying 'A man can be destroyed but not defeated... I will pickup the pieces that I learned today and will grow from it.'.
