Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Travis Burks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mason Foster!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
An elbow from Foster crashes against the mat.
Burks misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Burks is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foster looking to control but instead Burks has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burks is staying active underneath Foster, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Burks tries to get to full guard but Foster has control of the leg.
Burks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Foster's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Foster's back!
Foster is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Burks gets his way!
Foster is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Foster tries to roll but Burks sticks to his back.
Burks controlling from the back.
Foster prevents Burks from getting a body triangle.
Foster really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Burks is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Burks working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Burks is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Foster has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Burks has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Foster taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Burks doesn't care though - he's delighted!
