The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Fernandes blocks a head kick by Ribeiro.
Ribeiro misses with a head kick.
Ribeiro shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ribeiro lands with a kick to the temple. Fernandes shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Fernandes fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Fernandes with that takedown attempt.
Ribeiro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fernandes misses with an uppercut. Ribeiro saw that one coming.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fernandes, as that shot connected.

It looks like Lipidio Ribeiro has been cut.

Fernandes feints and as Ribeiro raises his hands in defense, Fernandes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fernandes wants to pass the guard but Ribeiro is keeping the position.
Ribeiro wants to stand and escape but Fernandes is having none of it.

Fernandes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Fernandes passes into half guard.
Ribeiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fernandes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fernandes is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ribeiro!
Ribeiro is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Ribeiro is squirming around, avoiding Fernandes's attempts to control the action.

Fernandes is going olschool here, as he tries to force Ribeiro to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ribeiro shrugs it off.
Ribeiro is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ribeiro defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Fernandes.
Fernandes unloads with some shots from mount but Ribeiro bucks and avoids them well.
Fernandes can't control as he wanted to and Ribeiro manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Ribeiro is trying to stand back up but Fernandes is controlling him
Ribeiro regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Fernandes.

Ribeiro has a closed guard, preventing Fernandes from standing up.
Ribeiro preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ribeiro is looking to stand up but Fernandes isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fernandes shoots for a double leg takedown but Ribeiro sprawls well. He's pushed Fernandes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bibiano Fernandes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fernandes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fernandes is breathing heavily.
Ribeiro misses with a head kick.
Ribeiro lands with a kick to the ribs.
Ribeiro pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ribeiro throws a series of punches but Fernandes moves out of range.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ribeiro throws a body punch but Fernandes moves out of range.
Fernandes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ribeiro stuffs the takedown attempt from Fernandes. Fernandes gets slowly back to his feet.
Fernandes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ribeiro lands a head kick. Fernandes smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Fernandes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ribeiro circles away.
Ribeiro misses with a few strikes there.
No luck for Fernandes with that takedown attempt.
Ribeiro connects with a solid leg kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Ribeiro.
Ribeiro lands with a kick to the temple. Fernandes shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lipidio Ribeiro will probably get the nod.

Ribeiro is looking to slow Fernandes down with leg kicks.
Oh Fernandes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
