Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Milford Cote (ranked 5243 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Waid (ranked 5033 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waid tries to clinch but Cote is having none of it.

Waid fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cote, pushing him back against the cage.
Cote really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Waid escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cote went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Waid fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cote tries to counter with a takedown but Waid is quick to defend against it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Waid looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Cote is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Waid has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cote is working away from the top position though.

Cote is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Waid sees it coming and defends easily.
Cote lands strikes from half guard.
Cote takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Cote is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cote will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cote seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Cote looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
