Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ze Serra (ranked 5161 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Askerin (ranked 5483 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Benjamin Askerin!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Askerin.
Askerin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Askerin throws a combination. Serra tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Askerin displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Askerin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Askerin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Serra circles away quickly and effectively.
Serra moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Serra closes the distance and pushes Askerin back into the cage.
Askerin has a couple of punches blocked by Serra.
Askerin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Serra tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Askerin smiles and moves away.
Serra misses with a head kick.

Serra moves into the clinch.
Askerin is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Serra is defending well for now.
Serra on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Serra throws an elbow that misses.
Askerin tries to land knees in the clinch but Serra avoids the damage to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Askerin.
Serra blocking some punches.
Askerin stalling the fight.

Askerin misses with a hook from the clinch.
Serra managing to block the knees to the body from Askerin.

Serra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Serra throws a right and a left that both miss.
Serra on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Serra rushes Askerin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Serra fails to land.

Serra pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Askerin blocks the body kick.
Serra darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Serra has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Askerin misses with the combination.
Askerin throws a series of punches but Serra moves out of range.
Serra seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Serra misses the shot to the body.
Askerin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Benjamin Askerin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Askerin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Askerin throws a jab but it's blocked by Serra.
Askerin moves in looking to clinch but Serra pushes him off.
Serra takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Askerin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Serra to score with a decent uppercut.

Serra clinches up with Askerin and pushes him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Askerin misses with an elbow strike.
Serra has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Askerin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Askerin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Serra backwards.
Serra managing to block the knees to the body from Askerin.
Askerin is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Askerin working aggressively here.
Serra drops down looking for an ankle pick but Askerin pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ze Serra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Askerin dips to his left and cracks Serra with an uppercut!
Askerin lands with a nice combination. Serra backs away looking to recover.
Serra walks into a straight right hand from Askerin.
Askerin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Serra went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Serra forces Askerin back against the cage and clinches.
Serra takes a shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Serra blocks an uppercut.
Serra blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Serra is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Askerin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Askerin throws a head punch that misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Serra.
Askerin lands a hook that snaps the head of Serra backwards.
Still in the clinch, Askerin scores with a nice short uppercut.
Askerin has a couple of punches blocked by Serra.
Askerin trying to land knees to the body.
Askerin is trying to maintain a safe position but Serra gets an underhook and turns Askerin into the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Askerin.
Serra on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Askerin is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Askerin swings away with an uppercut that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benjamin Askerin dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Serra looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Askerin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Serra is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Askerin's half guard.
Askerin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Serra.
Serra lands strikes from half guard.
Serra missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Askerin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Askerin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Serra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Serra works his foot free and advances to mount.
Askerin is desperately trying to improve his position but Serra has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Serra lands a couple of good shots and Askerin has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Askerin is trying to break free.
Serra controls the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Serra is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Askerin knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Askerin for a finish.
Askerin tries to escape the position.
Serra misses with punches from the back.
Serra connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Askerin to escape the position.
Askerin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Askerin avoids the strikes from Serra.
Serra has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Askerin.
Serra misses with an elbow to the head.
Serra controlling from the back.

Serra tightening his grip on Askerin, looking for the choke.
I really don't envy Askerin right now.
Serra throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Serra scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
You can see the frustration on Askerin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Askerin is taking damage to the body and head.
Ze Serra overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Serra is working the ground and pound. Can Askerin escape?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Serra lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Askerin rolls, trying to escape but Serra keeps control of the position.

Askerin is trapped and Serra is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Serra throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Serra has good solid back control here.
Serra scores with punches to the body.

Serra working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Askerin is doing well to defend. Serra seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Askerin is forced to tap and this one is over!
