Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Royce Hatfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Jones!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hatfield has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Hatfield could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hatfield lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Hatfield wants the takedown. Jones is fighting it off but Hatfield persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jones's guard against the cage.

Hatfield drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Hatfield off! Hatfield jumps back into Jones's guard.
Jones has his hands on Hatfield's head, controlling the position.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hatfield is one step ahead there.

Jones wants to control the position but Hatfield says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hatfield clinches up against the cage.

Jones breaks the clinch.

Jones scores with a hook to the body. Hatfield takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Hatfield fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hatfield manages to pull guard.
Jones trying to control but Hatfield is working from the bottom.
Jones wanted to stand there but Hatfield had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hatfield's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hatfield is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Hatfield circles away and we're back to standing.
Hatfield appears to be looking for a big counter.
Jones misses with a low kick as Hatfield jumps back.

Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones.

Hatfield decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!

Hatfield rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.

Jones is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hatfield is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jones to the mat. Jones regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Jones is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Hatfield presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Hatfield tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jones's elbow.
Hatfield will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jones up against the cage.

Jones changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hatfield fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jones misses with a low kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.

Hatfield shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jones is looking to stand back up but Hatfield counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jones.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hatfield prevents Jones from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hatfield is looking for a kimura here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Hatfield dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Hatfield rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Hatfield lands a good knee to the midsection. Jones won't want to take too many of those.
Hatfield connects with a nasty looking knee right to Jones's face.

Hatfield struggles to land a body shot inside as Jones controls his hands.

Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hatfield has him pressed against the cage.

Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hatfield is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?

Hatfield throws Jones to one side and escapes!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jones.
Hatfield is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hatfield, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
