Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Lizard (ranked 3637 p4p, 452 weight class) and Zhao Yu (ranked 4988 p4p, 536 weight class). Zhao Yu has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yu connects with an inside leg kick.
Lizard misses with a double jab.
Lizard throws a body shot but no joy.
Lizard has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Yu throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lizard looks to land a right hand but Yu moved out of range.
Lizard scores with the left hand. Yu knows he should have avoided that one.
Yu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A little jabbing left from Yu on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Lizard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lizard fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Yu lands a nice leg kick that just misses Lizard's sensitive parts.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yu doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lizard looks to land a combination. Yu sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Yu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Yu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lizard is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Yu asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Yu throws a hook to the side of Lizard's head but Lizard sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A quick step to the side and Lizard tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lizard is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Yu.

Zhao Yu is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Yu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
