Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between August Nash (ranked 5238 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Azevedo (ranked 5154 p4p, 447 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, August Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Azevedo!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Azevedo closes the distance and clinches.
Nash has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Nash is trying to push Azevedo away but Azevedo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Nash avoiding damage as Azevedo throws knees to the body.

Azevedo manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Azevedo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nash stays in close to Azevedo's body and controls the position.
Nash seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Azevedo for as long as he can get away with.
Nash connects with a couple of short punches.
Nash seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nash content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Nash missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Nash has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Azevedo will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Nash works over Azevedo with some ground and pound from guard.
Azevedo tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nash dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Nash gets tackled into the cage by Azevedo. Azevedo maintains the clinch.
Nash is trying to break free.
Azevedo is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Azevedo on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Azevedo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Azevedo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Azevedo fails with a takedown attempt.

Azevedo clinches up against the cage.

Nash breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Azevedo throws a push kick but Nash slaps the foot to one side.
It looked like Nash was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Nash steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Azevedo. That one must have hurt.

Azevedo takes the fight into the clinch.

Nash has clasped his hands together around Azevedo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nash scoring with punches and elbows.
Azevedo is trying to work for a sweep but Nash has mounted him!
Nash will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Azevedo wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Azevedo is desperately trying to improve his position but Nash has a good base and remains in mount.
Nash raining down shots from the mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nash prevents Azevedo from getting the reversal.
Azevedo is bucking up trying to escape but Nash cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Azevedo is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Nash locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Azevedo is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). August Nash!
