Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noah Russo (ranked 5253 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaquon Jones (ranked 5162 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaquon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lands a glancing blow to the side of Russo's head.

It looked like Russo was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A close round but Jaquon Jones will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jones throws the left hand but Russo avoids the punch easily.

Russo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Jones cracks Russo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Jones connects with a right hand. Russo shakes it off.
Jones lands a body shot.
Russo drops his hands momentarily and Jones takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jones connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Russo dives in and scores a takedown into Jones's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Russo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.

Jones throws a nice looking combination but Russo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Russo misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Russo closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Russo - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Jones throws a body shot but no joy.
Jones cracks Russo with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jaquon Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Russo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Russo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Russo off to one side.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

Russo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Russo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Noah Russo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Russo is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jones is defending well for now.
