Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Seung Woo Kim (ranked 3380 p4p, 367 weight class) and Ahmad Lazzez (ranked 4239 p4p, 420 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Seung Woo Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ahmad Lazzez!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

and Lazzez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lazzez.
Lazzez lands an elbow that stopped Kim in his tracks for a moment.

Lazzez continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kim tries to score a body lock takedown but Lazzez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Kim can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lazzez controls the pace.
Lazzez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lazzez gets to his feet - Kim follows without any prompting.

Kim tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Lazzez counters with a three punch combo that has Kim backing up. Kim nods at Lazzez to acknowledge the strikes.
A slapping body kick lands there for Lazzez.
Lazzez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Seung Woo Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lazzez keeps the fight on the outside.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lazzez or perhaps it was just good defense by Kim, which made it look bad.
Lazzez dives in and grabs Kim's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes down on Lazzez's head and hops out.

Kim throws a big counter combination but Lazzez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Kim shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lazzez as he jumps to the side.
Kim is breathing heavily.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lazzez is trying to pull guard but Kim turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Lazzez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kim walks away with a smile on his face. Lazzez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kim closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lazzez circles away.
Lazzez wants to counter the offense by Kim and move into the clinch position.

Lazzez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Lazzez darts in looking for a takedown but Kim gets double underhooks and turns Lazzez into the cage.

Lazzez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kim tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lazzez is in Kim's guard.

Kim shoots in for a takedown but Lazzez shows good takedown defense.
Kim closes the distance and clinches up with Lazzez, looking for a takedown. Kim pushes Lazzez against the cage but Lazzez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kim stuffs the takedown attempt from Lazzez. Lazzez gets slowly back to his feet.
Kim changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lazzez tries to avoid it but Kim manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lazzez to the ground. Lazzez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seung Woo Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lazzez fakes the leg kick and cracks Kim in the body.

Kim has Lazzez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lazzez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Lazzez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kim. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kim, as that shot connected.

Ahmad Lazzez seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Kim throws a sloppy head kick and Lazzez moves out of range easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ahmad Lazzez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lazzez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
