Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ed Goodwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Christie!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodwin moves away from the strike by Christie.
Goodwin slips a straight right by Christie.
Goodwin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Christie clinches up with Goodwin and pushes him back against the cage.
Goodwin leaning against his opponent.
Christie misses with a shot to the kidneys.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Christie.
Christie tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Goodwin pulls guard successfully.
Christie trying to control but Goodwin is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodwin keeping moving, preventing Christie from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goodwin is pulling down on Christie's head to control his posture.

Christie trying to control the position from guard on top but Goodwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Christie wants to pass the guard but Goodwin is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Christie throws a hook but Goodwin blocks it.

Christie closes the distance and clinches.
Christie tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Christie throws a punch but it's blocked by Goodwin.

Christie swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Goodwin blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Goodwin drags the fight down to the ground.
Goodwin pulls Christie in close to his closed guard and prevents Christie from doing any damage or advancing position.
Christie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goodwin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Christie is fighting to break Goodwin's control of his arms but Goodwin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Goodwin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Christie tries to free his leg and advance position but Goodwin is retaining full guard.
Goodwin wants to get back to his feet but Christie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Christie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Goodwin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Goodwin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Goodwin!

Goodwin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Christie to see if he's OK.

Christie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Goodwin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Goodwin goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Christie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Goodwin's guard! Nice work there by Christie!

Christie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Goodwin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Christie has Goodwin in his guard.

Goodwin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Ed Goodwin will probably get the nod.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Goodwin takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ed Goodwin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Goodwin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Goodwin holds on and takes a little breather.

Goodwin is looking for a sweep. Christie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Christie jabs Goodwin to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Christie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Christie. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Goodwin will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Christie up against the cage.

Goodwin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Goodwin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
