Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juam Arellano!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz throws a right and a left that Arellano avoids nicely.
Diaz misses with a two punch combination.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Arellano thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Arellano is trying to get an arm triangle but Diaz is defending well.

Arellano tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Arellano has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Diaz has his foot on Arellano's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Arellano works his way back into a safe position though.

Diaz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Arellano's face.
The referee warns Arellano that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

With the fighters up against the cage, Arellano throws an elbow but misses.

Diaz has Arellano pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Diaz pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Arellano tumbling to the mat - Diaz dives into Arellano's guard.

Arellano isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Diaz stacks Arellano on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Diaz!

Diaz is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Arellano is surviving well by controlling Diaz's body position as best he can.
Diaz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Arellano looks a forlorn figure.
Arellano is desperately trying to improve his position but Diaz has a good base and remains in mount.

Diaz is going olschool here, as he tries to force Arellano to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Arellano shrugs it off.

Diaz drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Diaz seems to have locked his on tight now - Arellano screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Diaz, as he picks up the win!
