Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ferdinand Marquez (ranked 4517 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seung Woo Kim (ranked 4531 p4p, 0 weight class). Seung Woo Kim will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ferdinand Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Seung Woo Kim!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marquez gets the takedown into side control.
Kim is looking to regain half guard here but Marquez keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marquez looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kim is avoiding damage well.
Marquez controls the position.

Marquez decides to stand back up.
Kim lands a glancing blow to the side of Marquez's head.

Marquez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kim is trying to defend but Marquez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Marquez in particular looking to stall.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kim takes a knee to the side of the body.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Marquez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kim uses from the top position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kim wanted to stand there but Marquez had control of the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Marquez is pulling down on Kim's head to control his posture.

Kim stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Marquez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Marquez gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kim regains guard.

Kim tries to throw a body punch but Marquez avoids it by throwing Kim back against the cage.

Marquez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Marquez counters with a left to the body.

Marquez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kim has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kim is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Marquez off and has taken his back!

Kim has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Marquez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Despite being in a bad position, Marquez is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.

Marquez's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Ferdinand Marquez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Seung Woo Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Kim shoots in looking for a takedown. Marquez tries to sprawl out of it but Kim keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marquez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Marquez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kim's head.
Nice takedown defense from Marquez. No joy for Kim on that attempt.
Marquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kim can do to turn this around?

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kim enables Marquez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kim manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kim wants to get back to his feet but Marquez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Marquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
