Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Hooper (ranked 3368 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Pierre Dux (ranked 5088 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Pierre Dux!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Dux, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hooper is defended easily by Dux.
Hooper tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dux swivels and escapes.
Dux looks for a takedown but Hooper sprawls well.

Hooper tries to keep at a distance but Dux has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dux pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hooper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dux sprawls well. Dux wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hooper gets slowly back to his feet.
Dux unleashes a big counter combination but Hooper bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Hooper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hooper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dux as he jumps to the side.

Hooper gets tackled into the cage by Dux. Dux maintains the clinch.
Dux is trying to drag Hooper to the mat but Hooper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Dux's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dux keeps the fight on the outside.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hooper is defended easily by Dux.

Dux tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hooper sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dux somewhat.
Hooper throws a right hand that Dux ducks under and follows up with a left that Dux also avoids with ease.

Dux's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hooper scores with a punch to the head.

Dux shoots in but no luck this time.
Hooper darts in looking for a takedown but Dux gets double underhooks and turns Hooper into the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dux throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No luck for Hooper with that takedown attempt.
Hooper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dux circles away.
Dux shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hooper makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hooper shoots in for a double leg but Dux sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dux scores with a head kick. Hooper tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Hooper shoots for a takedown but Dux saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dux is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Hooper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dux is fending him off so far but Hooper persists. Nope, Dux circles away and we're back to standing.

and Dux counters with a three punch combo that has Hooper backing up. Hooper nods at Dux to acknowledge the strikes.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dux stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Dux has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hooper avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Dux is trying to trip Hooper. He has hold of a leg but Hooper is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dux persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hooper keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hooper.
Hooper avoids the head kick by Dux.
Hooper goes for a double leg but Dux avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dux continues to drive forward.
Dux shoots in for a takedown but Hooper shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Dux fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hooper sprawls well initially but Dux persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Dux's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Dux has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jean Pierre Dux showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Dux working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hooper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hooper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dux is pulling down on Hooper's head. It's preventing any offense from Hooper, at least for the moment.

Dux manages to pull guard.
Dux seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Dux manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hooper manages to get himself to full guard.

Danny Hooper has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jean Pierre Dux is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dux drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dux jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well Dux has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
