PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Drover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Obi Kenobi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Adam Drover has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Adam Drover seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Drover lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kenobi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kenobi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Kenobi swats away the attempt to clinch by Drover.
Kenobi tries to close the distance and clinch but Drover swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kenobi shoots for a takedown but Drover saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Drover clinches but Kenobi breaks the clinch
and Kenobi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kenobi has a takedown stuffed.
Drover throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kenobi.
Nice takedown defense from Drover. No joy for Kenobi on that attempt.
Adam Drover has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Obi Kenobi.

Drover gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Drover wants to stand but Kenobi is controlling the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Drover is wriggling around but Kenobi manages to pass to half guard.

Drover kicks Kenobi off and gets back to his feet.
Kenobi shoots in and drives through. Drover sprawls well.

Kenobi has taken the fight to the clinch.

Kenobi drags the fight down to the ground.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kenobi holds on and takes a little breather.

Drover stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Kenobi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Drover is fending him off so far but Kenobi persists. Nope, Drover circles away and we're back to standing.
Kenobi looks gassed!
A combination from Drover does no damage.

Drover has managed to clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Kenobi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Drover walks away with a smile on his face. Kenobi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Drover feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Drover gets to his feet. Kenobi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Drover escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Drover tries to clinch up but Kenobi circles away and keeps his distance.

and Drover counters with an outside leg kick.

Kenobi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drover is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

That was a close round but I would say that Adam Drover will probably get the nod.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kenobi is trying to drag Drover to the mat but Drover just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kenobi is looking to control Drover's arms but Drover gets an underhook and turns him. Now Kenobi has his back to the cage.
Kenobi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Drover just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kenobi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Drover using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kenobi has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kenobi stands up and beckons Drover to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
