PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kemen Etxeberria (ranked 7148 p4p, 519 weight class) and Wayde West (ranked 1807 p4p, 218 weight class). Etxeberria kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Basque National Anthem. West has chosen Sober as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 37 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayde West!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
West takes a jab right on the kisser.
Etxeberria scores with a decent looking hook.

It looks like Wayde West has been cut.
West tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Etxeberria defends well and West ends up having to push Etxeberria into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Etxeberria swings for the body but West moves out of range.
West takes one on the button.
West darts in looking for a takedown but Etxeberria gets double underhooks and turns West into the cage.
West shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Etxeberria but Etxeberria pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kemen Etxeberria has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayde West.

and Etxeberria counters with a huge left! West is in big trouble! He's backing up but Etxeberria isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save West from any more damage. A dominating finish by Etxeberria!

Kemen Etxeberria decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
