Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damir Stojnic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Desmond Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis has his takedown stuffed
and Stojnic counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Stojnic fails to land the takedown.
Stojnic tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stojnic as he jumps to the side.
Lewis tries a head kick but it misses.
Stojnic drives through and clinches with Lewis against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stojnic decides to pull guard.
Stojnic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Stojnic throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Lewis has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Stojnic to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lewis is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Stojnic pulls down on the head and he's put Lewis to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Damir Stojnic!
