The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Donskovas rushes Thompson and presses him up against the cage.

Donskovas ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Donskovas no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Thompson postures up and lands a big shot to Donskovas's brow.

Donskovas pushes Thompson off and gets back to his feet.
Donskovas swings for the body but Thompson moves out of range.

Donskovas darts in and clinches Thompson up against the cage.
Thompson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Thompson gets control of Donskovas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Thompson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Donskovas stands up from Thompson's guard - Donskovas perhaps looking for a knockout.

Donskovas fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Thompson to the ground. Donskovas is now in Thompson's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Thompson manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thompson tries to pull guard but Donskovas holds him up against the cage and eventually Thompson drops back down to his feet.

Donskovas is trying to break the clinch but Thompson has him pressed against the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Donskovas's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Thompson drags the fight down to the ground.

Thompson is working an open guard so Donskovas takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Donskovas is looking to land body kicks.

Donskovas fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thompson, pushing him back against the cage.
Donskovas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Donskovas is trying to push Thompson away but Thompson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Thompson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Donskovas's efforts to push away.
Donskovas wants to get back to striking at distance but Thompson won't allow it.
Thompson tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Art Thompson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Donskovas is trying to push Thompson away but Thompson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Still in the clinch, Donskovas scores with a nice short uppercut.
Donskovas tries to break the clinch but Thompson is controlling the position.

Donskovas lands with a right to the head.
Donskovas wants to break free but Thompson has control.
Donskovas has had enough of the clinch but Thompson keeps him there for the moment.
Donskovas is looking to break free of the clinch but Thompson has double underhooks.
Donskovas wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Thompson has him pressed against the cage.
Donskovas wants to get back to striking at distance but Thompson won't allow it.
Thompson trying to stall but Donskovas improves his position.
Donskovas has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Donskovas rushes Thompson with punches - Thompson moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Thompson goes down! Donskovas follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
