Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Simmons (ranked 7457 p4p, 591 weight class) and Urban Urbansson (ranked 2666 p4p, 338 weight class). Urbansson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Änglar - Raubtier. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Simmons is defended easily by Urbansson.
Simmons doesn't manage to clinch there - Urbansson circles away.

Simmons closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Simmons lands in his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
We've been hearing good reports from Simmons's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Simmons is pushing down on Urbansson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Urbansson is fighting to maintain full guard but Simmons has managed to sneak the leg through.

Simmons is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Urbansson sees it coming and defends easily.

Simmons looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Urbansson is staying active underneath Simmons, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Urbansson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Simmons wants to work for an arm triangle but Urbansson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Simmons dives in and grabs Urbansson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Urbansson pushes down on Simmons's head and hops out.

and Urbansson scores with a counter punch that sends Simmons to the canvas! Urbansson smells blood - he's punishing Simmons with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Simmons has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

A relieved looking Urban Urbansson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
