PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kai Eriksen (ranked 4987 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Bush (ranked 6521 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Kai Eriksen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kai Eriksen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kai Eriksen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, George Bush!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bush darts in and clinches Eriksen up against the cage.
Eriksen is trying to pull guard but Bush turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Eriksen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bush just stands there and leans against the cage.
Eriksen tries to pull guard but Bush forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Eriksen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bush misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Eriksen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bush walks away with a smile on his face. Eriksen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Eriksen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bush as he avoids it easily.
Bush is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Bush has closed the distance and engaged Eriksen in a clinch.
Eriksen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bush walks away with a smile on his face. Eriksen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Bush counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Eriksen thinking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Eriksen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bush unleashes a big counter combination but Eriksen bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Eriksen throws a right and a left that both miss.
And Bush responds with a good body kick, but Eriksen manages to step out the way in time.

and Bush counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Eriksen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bush manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Eriksen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Eriksen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bush swivels and escapes.

Bush decides to stand up, so the ref orders Eriksen to his feet.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Eriksen tries to pull guard but Bush forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Eriksen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bush smiles and moves away.
Kai Eriksen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Eriksen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bush as he avoids it easily.

A nice side step and Bush releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Bush moves into the clinch successfully.
A short body shot lands from Bush as the two fighters clinch.

Bush can't find room to land a body shot as Eriksen controls the action.
Eriksen jumps guard but Bush turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Eriksen misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bush.
Eriksen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Bush lands a left hand that snaps the head of Eriksen backwards.
Bush has Eriksen pressed against the cage, preventing Eriksen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Eriksen has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bush after a bit of a struggle.
Eriksen tries to pull guard but Bush holds him up against the cage and eventually Eriksen drops back down to his feet.

Eriksen is working an open guard so Bush takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Eriksen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bush defends it easily.

Eriksen throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bush uses it to pass to side control.

Horrible takedown attempt by Eriksen or perhaps it was just good defense by Bush, which made it look bad.

George Bush showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

George Bush comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bush has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
