Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Brit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 3, fighting out of Montreal, Franky Yip!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Brit throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Yip lands with a nice body punch.

Yip has taken the fight to the clinch.
Yip goes for a takedown in the clinch but Brit prevents it.
Brit stops a takedown attempt from Yip.
Brit is trying to push Yip away but Yip has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Brit gets underhooks to prevent Yip's takedown attempt.
Jimmy Brit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franky Yip.
Brit is looking to break free of the clinch but Yip has double underhooks.
Yip has Brit pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brit manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yip drops down looking for an ankle pick but Brit pulls his leg out and moves away.
Brit connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Yip momentarily.

Yip looks to clinch
and Yip takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Yip has closed the distance and engaged Brit in a clinch.
Brit wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Yip has him pressed against the cage.
Brit tries to circle away but Yip has him pinned against the cage.
Brit is trying to break free.
Brit gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Yip.
Brit looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Yip tightens his grip and picks Brit up, before dumping him to the ground. Brit manages to land in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yip trying to control the position from guard on top but Brit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yip is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Brit preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Yip trying to control but Brit is working from the bottom.
Yip stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brit swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Yip not doing much here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yip is keen to just control but Brit is a slippery customer.
Yip drops an elbow to the side of Brit's head.
Yip uses his free foot to push down on Brit's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brit.

Yip lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Brit is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yip putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Yip fails to advance to Brit's back.
Yip scoring with strikes but Brit is staying in there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Yip trying to control but Brit is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franky Yip dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Brit throws a head kick that Yip semi-blocks.
Nice shot lands for Brit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brit does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Yip appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Yip wants to clinch up but Brit keeps it at a distance.
Brit was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Brit scores with a sloppy right hand. Yip should have avoided that one.

Brit gets tackled into the cage by Yip. Yip maintains the clinch.
Brit is trying to push Yip away but Yip has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Yip is looking to take this one to the mat.
Brit wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Yip has him pressed against the cage.
Yip is looking to take this one to the mat.
Brit wants to get back to striking at distance but Yip won't allow it.
Brit is trying to break the clinch but Yip is controlling him.
Brit has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Yip goes for a takedown attempt but Brit pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

A little feinted left hand from Brit on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Yip forces Brit back against the cage and clinches.

Brit manages to break the clinch.
Brit needs to keep his hands up - Yip had a free shot at his head there.
Brit throws a lazy uppercut
and Yip counters with a stiff right hand.
Yip lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Brit at a distance.
Yip fails with an attempt to clinch.
Brit is looking to counter punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yip misses with a jab, cross combination.
Brit fires out a quick counter leg kick but Yip just manages to avoid it.
Yip scores with a nice strike.
Brit on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Yip has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Brit breaks the clinch.
Yip moves in looking to clinch but Brit pushes him off.
Brit lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brit throws a combination that misses
and Yip counters with a stiff right hand.
A leg kick checked by Yip.
Yip misses with a looping left.
A quick step to the side and Brit tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Brit swats away the attempt to clinch by Yip.
Brit appears to be looking for a big counter.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brit moves into range and connects with a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Franky Yip will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Yip counters with a left to the body.
Franky Yip seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Yip slips under a jab.

Yip clinches.
Brit has had enough of the clinch but Yip keeps him there for the moment.

Yip turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Yip manages to end up in side control.
Yip prevents Brit from escaping the position.
Jimmy Brit has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Yip trying to control the action but Brit is working from the bottom.
Yip has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Brit tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Yip wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Yip wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brit keeps working.

Yip is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Brit is trying to escape and Yip transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Brit is forced to tap! Nice work there by Yip! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Franky Yip!
Franky Yip bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
In defeat, Jimmy Brit stepped up to the mic, saying 'Bahbahbooee bahbahbooee! Howard Sterns P... "mic yanked away"'.
