Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danny Hooper (ranked 4672 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Pierre Dux (ranked 3485 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Hooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Pierre Dux!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dux doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Dux clinches up with Hooper and pushes him back against the cage.

Dux pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hooper fails with the takedown.
Hooper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dux circles away.
Hooper shoots in but Dux avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Hooper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hooper is breathing heavily.
Hooper ducks right into an uppercut from Dux.
Dux lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hooper circles away quickly and effectively.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hooper.
Hooper will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dux shoots for a double leg takedown but Hooper sprawls well. He's pushed Dux's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hooper sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Dux moves into the clinch.

Dux breaks from the clinch.
Hooper misses with a few strikes there.
Dux is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hooper sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Dux gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hooper scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Dux manages to mount him!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee warns Hooper that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Dux has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hooper is bucking up trying to escape but Dux cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Dux stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Hooper tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dux swivels and escapes.
Dux has his takedown stuffed
and Hooper makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Dux lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Dux doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hooper counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Hooper misses with a takedown attempt - Dux sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hooper goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Jean Pierre Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dux looks to land a combination but Hooper avoids it well.
Hooper thinks about countering with a head kick.
Hooper fails with the takedown

and Dux counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dux.
Hooper is trying to push Dux away but Dux has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Dux is pushing Hooper up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Hooper is trying to break the clinch but Dux has him pressed against the cage.
Hooper jumps guard but Dux turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Dux stops a takedown attempt from Hooper.
Dux wants a takedown but no success here.

Dux escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hooper is working for takedown but Dux is calmly controlling the position for now.
Come on Dux - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Hooper fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Pierre Dux dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dux keeps the fight on the outside.
Hooper lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dux avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hooper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dux manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dux throws a counter combo.
Dux misses with a few strikes there.

Dux shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hooper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dux pushes down on Hooper's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hooper is looking to control Dux's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hooper avoid being mounted?
Hooper wants to get back to full guard but Dux has mounted him!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dux tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Dux stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Dux tries for a takedown but Hooper sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Dux looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hooper!
Hooper is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dux in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Dux is looking to take a break and control but Hooper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dux postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Dux is trying to get an arm triangle but Hooper is defending well.

Dux throws an elbow but Hooper slips to the side and avoids it well.
Dux just content to control the position.
Dux tries to score with some ground and pound. Hooper controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Danny Hooper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hooper throws a low kick but it's checked well by Dux.
Dux wants to counter with a clinch but Hooper pushes him away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hooper throws a head kick but Dux moves out of range.
Dux has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dux has closed the distance and engaged Hooper in a clinch.

Dux decides to pull guard.
Hooper prevents Dux from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hooper wants to control from the top but Dux keeps moving.
Hooper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Dux wants to stand and escape but Hooper is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dux pushes Hooper off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jean Pierre Dux showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Hooper's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Hooper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dux shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
As Dux looks to move away, Hooper throws a big counter combo but Dux just gets out of the way.
Hooper takes a kick to the side of the head.
Hooper throws a sloppy head kick and Dux moves out of range easily.
Dux shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hooper sprawls well. Hooper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dux gets slowly back to his feet.
Hooper looks to land a body kick but Dux moved away.
Dux takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dux gets a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dux escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Dux gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Hooper wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dux has him pressed against the cage.

Hooper is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dux is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hooper to the mat. Hooper regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Dux stands up and waves to Hooper to follow him.
Hooper is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dux sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dux.
Danny Hooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Pierre Dux.
Hooper is looking to clinch.
Jean Pierre Dux seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hooper or perhaps it was just good defense by Dux, which made it look bad.
Hooper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dux's waist but Dux gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hooper off to one side.
Dux plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Dux closes the distance and clinches.
Dux will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Hooper up against the cage.

Dux's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dux fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hooper is defended easily by Dux.
Dux is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Dux shoots in looking for a takedown. Hooper tries to sprawl out of it but Dux keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hooper manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hooper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dux manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hooper changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dux tries to avoid it but Hooper manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dux to the ground. Dux escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Dux moves into range and clinches up with Hooper.
Dux works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Hooper tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dux smiles and moves away.
Dux dives in and grabs Hooper's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hooper pushes down on Dux's head and hops out.
Hooper tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Dux darts in and clinches Hooper up against the cage.

Dux escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hooper tries to clinch but Dux moves out of range.
Hooper shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dux but Dux pushes him off and we're back to square one.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jean Pierre Dux comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dux has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
