PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emile Keith (ranked 6990 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jared Peterson (ranked 5053 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Emile Keith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jared Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, John Mangel and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keith slaps away a takedown attempt from Peterson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A quick step to the side and Keith tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Peterson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Peterson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Keith seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Peterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Keith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Peterson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Keith throws a big counter combination but Peterson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peterson wants to clinch
and Keith counters with a series of strikes. Peterson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Peterson tries to score a body lock takedown but Keith shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Keith distracts Peterson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Peterson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Keith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Peterson is trying to keep Keith in close.
Keith scoring with punches to the head and body.
Keith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peterson has momentary wrist control but Keith slips an elbow through the middle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peterson wants to sweep here but Keith controlling him for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Peterson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Keith at a distance.
Keith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Peterson throws a head kick that misses.
Peterson shoots in looking for a takedown but Keith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Peterson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Keith appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Peterson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Keith is fending him off so far but Peterson persists. Nope, Keith circles away and we're back to standing.
Peterson throws a right and a left that Keith avoids nicely.

and Keith counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Keith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Peterson shoots in and drives through. Keith sprawls well.
Keith was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Peterson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Keith throws a big counter combination but Peterson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Keith has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Keith tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Peterson smiles and moves away.

Emile Keith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Keith lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Keith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Keith leaves Peterson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Keith lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Peterson fails with the takedown
and Keith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Peterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Keith tries to avoid it but Peterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Keith to the ground. Keith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peterson throws a looping overhand right but Keith ducks down to avoid it.
As Peterson looks to move away, Keith throws a big counter combo but Peterson just gets out of the way.
Peterson darts in looking for a takedown but Keith gets double underhooks and turns Peterson into the cage.
Keith appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Keith rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Peterson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Keith but Keith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Peterson tries to score with a low kick but Keith moves his leg out of the way.

Keith ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Keith no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Keith wants to get back to his feet but Peterson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Keith has his foot on Peterson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peterson works his way back into a safe position though.
Keith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Keith lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

Peterson wants to pass the guard but Keith is keeping the position.

Peterson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Keith sprawls well. Keith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Peterson gets slowly back to his feet.

It looked like Keith was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Peterson.
