PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dak Ishii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishii comes to the cage accompanied by Insane in the membrane by Cypress Hill. The crowd seem to be enjoying Evans's choice of entrance music: "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr.. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dak Ishii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Freddy Evans!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ishii shoots in for a double leg but Evans sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Evans swings for the body but Ishii moves out of range.
Evans lands a jab to the head.
Evans keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Evans manages to get back to half guard.
Evans is trying to stand up here but Ishii is controlling him well.
Ishii thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Evans's head.

Ishii seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Evans has momentary wrist control but Ishii slips an elbow through the middle.

Evans had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ishii is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Evans Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ishii's back instead.

Ishii drops back looking for a leg! Evans is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Evans manages to kick Ishii off! Ishii jumps back into Evans's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Evans escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ishii gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Evans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ishii's guard.

Ishii working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Evans is trying to work for a kimura but Ishii is defending well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Evans stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ishii swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Evans is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ishii is surviving well by controlling Evans's body position as best he can.

Freddy Evans has got the better of the ground game so far.

Evans looking to break Ishii's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Ishii remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Evans will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Freddy Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Ishii will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Evans drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Evans as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Ishii screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Evans! Nice submission victory there!
