PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Javelle Stone (ranked 7195 p4p, 560 weight class) and Daana Wyte (ranked 3721 p4p, 430 weight class). Stone kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Matrimony by:Wale. Javelle Stone had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Javelle Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daana Wyte!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wyte throws a combination. Stone tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Javelle Stone has been cut.
Wyte has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Stone is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Stone closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stone is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wyte defends it well.

Stone shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wyte manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wyte manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Stone jumps guard and drags Wyte to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Stone is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Wyte to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Wyte shrugs it off.
Wyte really wants to buck Stone off and get back to his feet.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Stone looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Wyte defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Stone.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stone has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Wyte has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Stone fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wyte to the ground. Stone is now in Wyte's guard.

Stone seems to be looking for submissions.
Wyte tries to kick Stone off but Stone keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Stone is keen to just control but Wyte is a slippery customer.
Stone prevents Wyte from standing back up.

Wyte cracks Stone with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wyte paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

and Wyte counters with a big right hand! Oh Stone is in trouble here! Wyte follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daana Wyte!
In defeat, Javelle Stone stepped up to the mic, saying 'Revenge is imminent!'.
