PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khamid Osman Durnagoz (ranked 3415 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Harris (ranked 7379 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Khamid Osman Durnagoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Harris!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harris throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Durnagoz was covering up waiting for the punch and Harris finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Durnagoz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Durnagoz is trying to control the position but Harris postures up.
Harris slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harris stands up from Durnagoz's guard - Harris perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Durnagoz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Harris but Harris pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Durnagoz shoots and misses
and Harris counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Durnagoz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Harris defends well and Durnagoz ends up having to push Harris into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Harris lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Khamid Osman Durnagoz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Durnagoz is breathing heavily.

Harris is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Durnagoz's half guard.
Harris is taking a breather. Durnagoz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

It looks like Harris might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Harris has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A shot to the liver by Durnagoz. Beautiful body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Durnagoz takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Durnagoz throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Harris slaps away a takedown attempt from Durnagoz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Durnagoz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Harris feints and as Durnagoz raises his hands in defense, Harris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Durnagoz manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harris tries for a takedown but Durnagoz manages to get underhooks.
Harris wants a takedown but no success here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Marcus Harris will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Harris fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Durnagoz to the ground. Harris is now in Durnagoz's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durnagoz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Harris controls the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Durnagoz wants to clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Durnagoz tries to close the distance and clinch but Harris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Durnagoz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Durnagoz doesn't manage to clinch there - Harris circles away.
We've been informed that Harris has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Durnagoz misses with a takedown attempt - Harris sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Harris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Harris shoots in and bounces Durnagoz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Harris is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harris is continuing to stall.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Harris.
Harris's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yet more stalling tactics from Harris.

Marcus Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Durnagoz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Harris closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Durnagoz to the mat! Durnagoz manages to get full guard.
Harris is standing up over Durnagoz. Durnagoz looks to escape but Harris dives into side control.

Durnagoz lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Durnagoz lands with a thumping leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Durnagoz has a takedown stuffed.
Harris looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Durnagoz tries to land a front kick but Harris steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Harris drives through with a takedown into guard.
Durnagoz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Harris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Harris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Harris stands and steps away. Durnagoz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Harris closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Durnagoz's guard.
Durnagoz wants to get back to his feet but Harris passes into half guard.
Marcus Harris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Harris slows the pace down in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Harris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Harris winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
