Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tung Fo (ranked 6689 p4p, 534 weight class) and David Cain (ranked 3699 p4p, 420 weight class). Tung Fo has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tung Fo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cain!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fo tries a head kick but it misses.
Fo blocks the body kick.
Fo tries to clinch up.
Cain stuffs the takedown.
Cain lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Cain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fo tries to clinch but Cain moves out of range.
Fo fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Cain throws a lazy right hand but Fo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Fo tries to counter with a takedown but Cain is quick to defend against it.
Fo sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Cain swinging wildly here.
Fo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Good leg kick by Cain there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fo misses with a low kick.
Fo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cain throws a looping overhand right but Fo ducks down to avoid it.
Cain checks a leg kick nicely.
We've been informed that Cain has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Cain throws a leg kick

and Fo counters with a single leg into guard. Cain didn't expect that.
Fo won't allow Cain to get back to his feet.
Cain keeping moving, preventing Fo from controlling successfully.
Fo stops Cain from standing up.
Fo trying to control the position from guard on top but Cain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fo looking to sit in guard and control but Cain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cain tries to stand but Fo is controlling from the bottom.
Fo controlling the position.
Cain postures up.
Cain wants to get up but he can't break Fo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Fo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cain throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Fo counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Cain!

Cain wants to control but Fo postures up.
Fo wants to control but Cain is keeping him busy.
Fo looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Cain is avoiding damage well.
Fo taking a breather here.

Fo tries for a kimura but Cain is defending well.
Cain is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fo decides to stand back up. Fo steps back and let's Cain get back to his feet.
Fo takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
David Cain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fo tries a head kick but it misses.
A low kick from Cain is predictable there

and Fo counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Cain!
Fo taking a break here but Cain is having none of it and regains half guard.
Fo stops Cain from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tung Fo will probably get the nod.
That's time! Fo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fo tries to close the distance and clinch but Cain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
It seemed like Cain was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Cain throws the left hand but Fo avoids the punch easily.
David Cain seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fo looks to score with a jab to the body but Cain is just out of range.
Fo scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Fo throws a head kick but Cain moves out of range.
Fo drops his hands momentarily and Cain takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Cain fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cain defends it nicely.
Cain tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fo was well out of range. Poor timing from Cain.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cain looks to land a left hand but Fo moved out of range nicely.
Fo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Fo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cain manages to avoid it.
Tung Fo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cain scores with a nice right hand.
Cain sizes up Fo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A bone on bone clash there as Fo blocks the leg kick.

A punch combination from Cain misses.
Cain just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromFo.
Cain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fo.

Fo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cain, pushing him back against the cage.

Fo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fo tries to clinch up.
A head kick from Cain lands but Fo takes it in his stride.


It looks like Tung Fo has been cut.
Cain lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Fo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cain sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tung Fo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fo tries to clinch up.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cain! But no joy.
Cain misses with a straight right.
Cain smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Fo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cain defends well and Fo ends up having to push Cain into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cain looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Cain has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cain throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Cain misses with a wild body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cain keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Cain jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Cain seems a little lost for a moment, as Fo dominates the positioning.
Cain gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cain. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Fo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cain defends it well.

Fo stops Cain from getting back to his feet.
Cain avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fo.
Fo stalling.
Cain is trying to stand up here but Fo is controlling him well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cain lands a head kick!
Fo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cain tries to avoid it but Fo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cain to the ground. Cain escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cain looks to land a right hand but Fo moved out of range.

Fo clinches up against the cage.
Fo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cain smiles and moves away.
Cain misses with a head kick.
Cain throws a push kick but Fo slaps the foot to one side.
Fo throws a sloppy head kick and Cain moves out of range easily.
David Cain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cain swivels and escapes.
Fo throws a leg kick but Cain moved away.
Cain misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cain manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Cain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Tung Fo's cut.
That's time! Fo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Fo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cain wants to stand up but Fo is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Fo gets to his feet. Cain looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Fo looks to land a left hand but Cain moved out of range nicely.
Fo doesn't manage to clinch there - Cain circles away.
Cain moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cain lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Oh Fo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fo fails with a takedown attempt.
Cain feints a counter leg kick.
Fo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cain paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cain drops Fo with a straight right hand, right on the button! Cain follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
