Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Ralph Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tiago Gomes Da Rocha!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean throws a shot to the body.
Dean throws a poor cross that misses
and Da Rocha counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A jab lands there for Dean.
Dean connects with an inside leg kick.
Dean buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dean tries a low kick but Da Rocha avoids it.
Dean shoots in looking for a takedown. Da Rocha tries to sprawl out of it but Dean keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Da Rocha manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dean lands a jab to the nose.
Dean connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Dean throws a poor cross that misses
and Da Rocha counters with a nice uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Da Rocha has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dean uses from the top position.
Da Rocha has his foot on Dean's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dean works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Da Rocha isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dean stacks Da Rocha on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dean!
Da Rocha is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Da Rocha gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dean slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Da Rocha is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Dean is tapping! Great win for Da Rocha!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tiago Gomes Da Rocha!
