The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Thompson shoots in and bounces Lap off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Thompson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thompson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lap gets a clinch.

Lap is fighting off a takedown attempt but Thompson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lap to the mat. Lap regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Thompson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Thompson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Lap closes the distance and pushes Thompson back into the cage.

Lap can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thompson controls the pace.
Thompson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lap for as long as he can get away with.
Thompson is looking to stand up but Lap won't let him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Thompson is working Lap over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lap gets caught napping as Thompson dives in and scores a takedown. Lap manages to retain guard.

Lap tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thompson defends well and Lap ends up having to push Thompson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Thompson shoots in for a double leg but Lap sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Thompson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lap is defending well for now.
Thompson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lap bucks up and tries to throw Thompson off but instead Thompson has got his back!
