Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Hughes (ranked 5628 p4p, 0 weight class) and Best French (ranked 5220 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mauricio Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Best French!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. French did well to prevent Hughes getting side control.

Hughes decides to stand up.

French drives through with a takedown into Hughes's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Hughes wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and French is now in half guard.

Hughes has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but French is on him like a limpet, forcing Hughes back against the cage.
French keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hughes's efforts to push away.
Hughes wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
French prevents Hughes from breaking the clinch.

Hughes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Some wild striking there from Hughes.
A nice side step and French releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
French leaves Hughes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
French is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hughes with a body shot.

French really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hughes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Mauricio Hughes will probably get the nod.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Best French showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hughes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. French gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hughes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. French defends it easily.

Hughes isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. French stacks Hughes on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by French!

French has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Best French comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well French has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
