PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Trajan Argyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Poppenstuff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jamie Poppenstuff told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamie Poppenstuff!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poppenstuff throws a right and a left that both miss.
Argyle is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Poppenstuff.
Argyle walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Poppenstuff gets caught flat footed, as Argyle shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Argyle wants to pass the guard but Poppenstuff is keeping the position.
Poppenstuff utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Argyle drops back looking for a leg! Poppenstuff is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Poppenstuff manages to kick Argyle off! Argyle jumps back into Poppenstuff's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Poppenstuff is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Poppenstuff blocks an uppercut.

Poppenstuff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Argyle throws a hook but Poppenstuff blocks it.
Poppenstuff digs a good body shot into Argyle's ribs.
Argyle fails to land the takedown.

Poppenstuff forces Argyle back against the cage and clinches.
Poppenstuff can't break the clinch.
Poppenstuff is trying to break the clinch but Argyle has him pressed against the cage.

Poppenstuff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Argyle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Poppenstuff lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Poppenstuff.

and Poppenstuff counters with a three punch combo that has Argyle backing up. Argyle nods at Poppenstuff to acknowledge the strikes.

Argyle is rocked!
Poppenstuff circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Argyle to the canvas! Argyle doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Poppenstuff keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
