The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saeed manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Chaney on his heels. He'll look to pass Chaney's guard now, I'm sure.

Saeed remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Saeed wants to work for an arm triangle but Chaney is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Chaney throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Abdi Saeed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chaney throws a looping overhand right but Saeed ducks down to avoid it.

Saeed ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Saeed no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Chaney is working Saeed over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Chaney postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chaney won't allow Saeed to get back to his feet.
Chaney lands a couple of digs.
Saeed pulls Chaney in close to his closed guard and prevents Chaney from doing any damage or advancing position.
Saeed wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Chaney is now in half guard.

Saeed bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chaney tries to pull guard but Saeed forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Saeed's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Saeed wants to pass the guard but Chaney is keeping the position.
Chaney is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Saeed throws a sloppy head kick and Chaney moves out of range easily.
Chaney wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Chaney tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Saeed defends well and Chaney ends up having to push Saeed into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Saeed fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chaney, pushing him back against the cage.
Chaney misses with the head strike.
Saeed has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Chaney tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Chaney gets control of Saeed's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chaney will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
