Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marc Fuentes (ranked 5030 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paavo Himanen (ranked 5029 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marc Fuentes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paavo Himanen!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Himanen moves away from the strike by Fuentes.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Fuentes, as that shot connected.

Fuentes gets caught napping as Himanen dives in and scores a takedown. Fuentes manages to retain guard.
Himanen showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Fuentes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Himanen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Himanen lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fuentes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fuentes wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Himanen manages to pass to side control.
Himanen scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Fuentes is looking to improve his position.

Himanen is working for a submission of some sort.
Himanen looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Fuentes wants to get back to his feet.
Himanen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Himanen connects with a nice short shot to Fuentes's temple.
Himanen content to control rather than advance.
Himanen working over Fuentes with some ground and pound. Fuentes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Fuentes is looking for a sweep. Himanen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fuentes really is a fat lump.

Himanen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Himanen is looking for a kimura but Fuentes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Himanen to get the leverage.
Himanen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Himanen content to control rather than advance.
Fuentes wants to improve his position but Himanen is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Himanen controlling the pace.
Himanen blocks the strikes from Fuentes.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fuentes pushes Himanen off looking to stand but Himanen dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fuentes misses with a two punch combination.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Himanen gets a double leg takedown into Fuentes's guard.

Himanen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fuentes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Himanen swivels and escapes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paavo Himanen dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Himanen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fuentes pushes Himanen off but Himanen dives into side control.
Fuentes is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Himanen is controlling him well.
Himanen tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Fuentes is looking for a sweep.

Himanen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fuentes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Himanen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Himanen cracks Fuentes with an elbow. That is naaassty.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Himanen working the ground and pound.
Himanen controlling the position from side mount.
Fuentes looking for a sweep but Himanen has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Himanen is looking to stand but Fuentes has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Himanen scores with a couple of good head shots there.


Fuentes is rocked!
Himanen lands a big elbow - Fuentes is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Fuentes is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Paavo Himanen!
