PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ariel Schroder (ranked 4213 p4p, 171 weight class) and Kreepee Krawlee (ranked 2715 p4p, 121 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ariel Schroder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kreepee Krawlee!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krawlee displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Schroder.
Schroder changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krawlee tries to avoid it but Schroder manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krawlee to the ground. Krawlee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Krawlee has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Schroder misses with a wild combination.

Schroder feints and as Krawlee raises his hands in defense, Schroder changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Schroder is fighting to break Krawlee's control of his arms but Krawlee is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Krawlee throws his legs up looking for a submission but Schroder uses it to pass to side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krawlee is looking to regain half guard here but Schroder keeps moving and retains side control.

Krawlee can't do much from the bottom here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schroder has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Schroder throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Krawlee works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Schroder shoots in but Krawlee avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Schroder is defended easily by Krawlee.
Krawlee let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Schroder slaps away a takedown attempt from Krawlee, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Krawlee manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Schroder on his heels. He'll look to pass Schroder's guard now, I'm sure.
Krawlee stands and throws Schroder's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schroder parries the strikes from Krawlee easily there. Krawlee is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Schroder to escape.
Krawlee is looking to take a break and control but Schroder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Schroder's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Schroder is looking for a sweep.
Krawlee throws an elbow but Schroder slips to the side and avoids it well.

Krawlee swings around for an armbar but Schroder sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Krawlee's guard.

Krawlee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Krawlee isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Schroder stacks Krawlee on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Schroder!

Schroder tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schroder has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Krawlee wants to control but Schroder postures up.
Krawlee is looking to regain half guard here but Schroder keeps moving and retains side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Schroder dives in and grabs Krawlee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Krawlee pushes down on Schroder's head and hops out.

Schroder shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schroder showed some decent athleticism there.
Schroder is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ariel Schroder.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Schroder, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
