Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lashawn Davis (ranked 4791 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Hooper (ranked 24946 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Lashawn Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Hooper!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hooper misses with a takedown attempt - Davis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Davis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Hooper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Davis circles away.
Hooper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Davis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hooper ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Hooper shoots in but no luck this time.
Lashawn Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Hooper.
Davis swats away the attempt to clinch by Hooper.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hooper stuffs the takedown.
Hooper tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hooper postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Davis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hooper, into his guard.

Hooper tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Davis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hooper working a defensive guard but Davis manages to pass into side control anyway.

Hooper tries to bench press Davis off him but Davis keeps the position.
You can see the frustration on Hooper's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hooper is trying to improve his position.
Davis trying to control the position but Hooper is working away.

Davis looking to control but instead Hooper has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hooper is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back!
Hooper thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Davis can't escape the position.
Davis covering up well under a barage of strikes.

Hooper working for a choke but Davis is defending well.

Davis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hooper gets his way!
You can see the frustration on Davis's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Davis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hooper gets his way!
Hooper has the hooks in. Davis is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lashawn Davis will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Hooper goes for a takedown attempt but Davis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet.

Davis cracks Hooper with a nice body shot.
Davis is working for takedown but Hooper is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hooper tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Davis smiles and moves away.

Davis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Davis has Hooper up against the cage in a clinch.
Davis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hooper just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hooper keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Davis's efforts to push away.

Davis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hooper fails to pull guard.
Hooper drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Davis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hooper is looking to control Davis's arms but Davis gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hooper has his back to the cage.

Davis pulls Hooper into guard.
Hooper throws a big elbow that misses.

Davis is looking for a triangle but Hooper pushes his legs off easily.
Davis is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hooper trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Davis is looking for a triangle but Hooper pushes his legs off easily.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Davis is trying to keep Hooper in close.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hooper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Davis as he jumps to the side.
Davis throws a big counter combination but Hooper scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Hooper dives in for a single leg takedown but Davis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Davis thinks about countering with a body kick.
Hooper throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Hooper dodges the punch combination from Davis.
Hooper darts in looking for a takedown but Davis gets double underhooks and turns Hooper into the cage.
Davis tries a head kick but it misses.
Hooper unleashes a big counter combination but Davis bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

and Davis counters by moving into the clinch.

As Davis backs off Hooper throws a huge counter combo but Davis manages to avoid it all.
