Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Millard Hensley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jaquis Jamal!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hensley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jamal to the mat! Jamal manages to get full guard.
Jamal is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Jamal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hensley gets to his feet. Jamal looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jamal shoots in looking for a takedown but Hensley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jamal's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jamal takes the fight into the clinch.

Hensley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Hensley. No joy for Jamal on that attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hensley can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jamal is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hensley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jamal is looking to improve his position but Hensley isn't that keen on the idea.

Hensley is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jamal to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jamal shrugs it off.

Jamal tries to lock up and control but Hensley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hensley wants to control the pace but Jamal is squirming around nicely.

Jamal is in a horrible position here. Hensley smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Jamal clinches.

Hensley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hensley stuffs the takedown.
Hensley tries to counter with a takedown but Jamal is quick to defend against it.
Jamal tries a head kick but it misses.

Hensley clinches up against the cage.

Hensley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hensley has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Jamal is trying to keep an underhook but Hensley manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Jamal manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hensley keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hensley wants the takedown. Jamal is fighting it off but Hensley persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jamal's guard against the cage.

Hensley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jamal, up you get!
Jamal darts in looking for a takedown but Hensley gets double underhooks and turns Jamal into the cage.
Hensley attempts a counter takedown but Jamal avoids it well and moves away.
Jaquis Jamal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jamal lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Hensley backwards.

Hensley gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Jamal is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Jamal dives in and grabs Hensley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hensley pushes down on Jamal's head and hops out.
Hensley tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jamal manages to circle out of the way.

Jamal rushes Hensley and presses him up against the cage.

Hensley drags the fight down to the ground.
Millard Hensley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jamal wants to stand up but Hensley manages to regain full guard.

Jamal postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hensley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jamal, into his guard.

Hensley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jamal can do to turn this around?

Hensley stands up from Jamal's guard - Hensley perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jamal moves into the clinch successfully.

Hensley jumps guard.
Jamal throws an elbow that misses. Hensley uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jamal's guard. Nice move by Hensley!

That was a close second round but I would say that Millard Hensley will probably get the nod.

Jamal lands with a kick to the temple. Hensley shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Jamal misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hensley half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Jamal lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Hensley gets tackled into the cage by Jamal. Jamal maintains the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jamal can't get the takedown.

Hensley gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jamal has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hensley is on him like a limpet, forcing Jamal back against the cage.

Hensley jumps guard and drags Jamal to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Jamal is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hensley is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hensley has escaped and now he's on top!

Jamal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hensley as he avoids it easily.
Hensley is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Jamal.

Hensley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jamal is trying to stand back up but Hensley is controlling him

Hensley stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Jamal to get to his feet.

Jamal is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Hensley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hensley closes the distance and pushes Jamal back into the cage.
Jamal misses with a knee strike.
Jaquis Jamal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jamal decides to pull guard.

Jamal isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hensley stacks Jamal on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hensley!
Millard Hensley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hensley stands up.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jaquis Jamal.
I think Hensley has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
