PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gino Trecozze (ranked 4255 p4p, 423 weight class) and Aric Alacantara (ranked 4539 p4p, 438 weight class). Alacantara comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Alpha Omega - MGK kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trecozze will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Trecozze throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alacantara's waist but Alacantara gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Trecozze off to one side.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alacantara can do anything to dispel that myth.

Trecozze drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alacantara manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trecozze has Alacantara in his guard.

Trecozze has his foot on Alacantara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alacantara works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trecozze working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alacantara doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alacantara manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Alacantara has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Trecozze is proving hard to escape from.
Alacantara really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trecozze. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Alacantara wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Trecozze's closed guard. He's half up but Trecozze has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Trecozze pivots and extends the arm, Alacantara falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Trecozze! Well done that man!
