PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pot Kantai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tamotsu Masayoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tamotsu Masayoshi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masayoshi doesn't manage to clinch there - Kantai circles away.

Masayoshi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Masayoshi won't allow Kantai to sweep him here.

Kantai looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Masayoshi tries to stand but Kantai is controlling from the bottom.
Masayoshi throwing strikes but missing.
Kantai is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Masayoshi working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Kantai wants to stand up but Masayoshi is controlling him.
Kantai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kantai tries to get out of the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kantai throws the left hand but Masayoshi avoids the punch easily.
Masayoshi tries for a takedown but Kantai sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Masayoshi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Masayoshi tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Masayoshi has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Kantai works to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masayoshi controlling from the top position.
Kantai working a defensive guard here.
Kantai manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Masayoshi manages to get himself to full guard.
Kantai wants to pass the guard but Masayoshi is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masayoshi pulls Kantai in close to his closed guard and prevents Kantai from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kantai won't allow Masayoshi to get back to his feet.
Masayoshi looks gassed!
Kantai is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Kantai decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Masayoshi gets a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kantai breaks from the clinch.
Kantai misses with an uppercut.
Pot Kantai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Masayoshi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kantai as he avoids it easily.
Kantai throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Masayoshi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kantai looks to score with a jab to the body but Masayoshi is just out of range.
Masayoshi tries a head kick but it misses.
Kantai swats away the attempt to clinch by Masayoshi.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kantai drops Masayoshi with a right and a left! Kantai comes rushing in but Masayoshi regains his composure and manages to keep Kantai in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pot Kantai dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kantai fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

It looks like Tamotsu Masayoshi has been cut.
Kantai drops Masayoshi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Masayoshi looks back up at him and smiles so Kantai waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Masayoshi is rocked!
Kantai drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Masayoshi right on the button. Masayoshi goes down! Kantai follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Kantai gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pot Kantai!
