The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mooney tries to bum rush Avery with a series of wild strikes but Avery uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Avery looks to score with a jab to the body but Mooney is just out of range.

Mooney thows a huge punch but Avery dodges it nicely.

Mooney is nestled in close to Avery, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Avery is looking for a sweep. Mooney is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
