PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Duke Blackbeard (ranked 1159 p4p, 149 weight class) and Dannis Till (ranked 1562 p4p, 0 weight class). Blackbeard comes into the arena with Remember The Name blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Till tries to clinch up
and Blackbeard counters with a straight right hand.
Till moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Till on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Till tries to clinch but Blackbeard is having none of it.
Till tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Blackbeard paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blackbeard throws a hook to the side of Till's head but Till sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Blackbeard gets tackled into the cage by Till. Till maintains the clinch.
Till is trying to pull guard but Blackbeard turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Blackbeard misses with a body punch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Till tries to pull guard but Blackbeard holds him up against the cage and eventually Till drops back down to his feet.
Duke Blackbeard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dannis Till.
Till is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Blackbeard to keep the fight standing.
Blackbeard throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Tills head.
Blackbeard lands a shoulder strike.

Till jumps into guard, dragging Blackbeard to the mat.
Blackbeard controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Till has his foot on Blackbeard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Blackbeard works his way back into a safe position though.

Till wants to improve his position but Blackbeard is controlling well.

Still in half guard, Blackbeard seems content to control.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Blackbeard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Till tries to close the distance and clinch but Blackbeard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Till wants to clinch.
Till doesn't manage to clinch there - Blackbeard circles away.
Blackbeard throws a looping overhand right but Till ducks down to avoid it.
Till tries a quick counter leg kick but Blackbeard is wise to it.
Blackbeard is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Blackbeard throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Blackbeard working aggressively here.

Till jumps guard but Blackbeard stands there with Till around his waist. Till gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Blackbeard lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Till pulls guard.
Till can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Blackbeard controls the pace.

Till throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Blackbeard escapes and throws Till's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Till is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Blackbeard happy to just control the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Blackbeard throws a shot to the body.
Blackbeard thows a left - swing and a miss!
Dannis Till seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Till takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Till closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Blackbeard lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Blackbeard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Blackbeard lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Till tries to close the distance and clinch up but Blackbeard swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Blackbeard counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Till! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!
